Using Aplications made for Windows in Ubuntu

Did you know that you can run lots programs available to windows in ubuntu?

By installing the popular application "wine" in ubuntu, this is easily possible. All you want is a working internet connection and download 10 Megabytes. To download and install wine, just press Alt+F2 to get a "Run Application" menu and type "sudo apt-get install wine" in it. It will finish in a few minutes.

After installing wine, you can double-click on any exe file to get it working. You can play games, or install photoshop or even autoCAD but you can observe a small degradement in the performance.

visit www.winehq.org to know more about wine, or availablity of wine for other linux distributions

Please add to this if you know some other free software like wine…

Code Weavers have a commercial version of Wine called Crossover that has decent support for Windows games, etc.
